Family Week 2026

Poster for Wythnos Teulu

Where: Ynys Enlli, Bardsey Island, North Wales

When: 25 July – 1 August 2026

Who: Families with children under 18. Various accommodation available for sleeping 2-8

What is the Ynys Enlli Family Week

Bardsey Island (Ynys Enlli) lies two miles from the mainland of the Llŷn Peninsula, but its impossible to explain how different Enlli feels to the mainland only a few miles away. As you step from the boat onto Enlli you instantly leave the pressures of mainland life on the other side of the Sound.

Enlli as an island offers a sanctuary for children and adults, offering a rare opportunity in our world to disconnect from the web and to live a simple life as families. Enlli forces you to slow down, to reconnect with nature and each other. You can spend a week exploring, playing games, relaxing on the beach, cooking or enjoying picnics as a family in your garden or on the top of the mountain. Some might worry about what there is to do on a small island for a week with children – but with an Artist in Residence holding creative workshops, the Bird Observatory offering guided walks to discover the island wildlife, or impromptu football or rounders games the week soon disappears and stepping back onto the boat the following Saturday comes far too quickly. This week offers a week of freedom to make new friends in one of Wales’ most beautiful and unique places.

How to Book

We know that staying on Enlli is becoming increasingly challenging for many, either in accessing the bookings when availability is released, or due to financial constraints. The Bardsey Island Trust appreciates this is particularly challenging for families. As a result of this in 2026 the Trust is launching its first ever Families Week with a number of perks:

  • 10% Discount on all houses
  • Bookings only available for families
  • Payments accepted in instalments throughout the year
  • Lower deposit payment required to secure booking

Because we expect a lot of interest in this opportunity we’ll be opening bookings through a Form which will be launched on Saturday September 6th at 9am. This will invite families interested to submit their booking request, including details on the number of adults/children in their group and their preferred property. Bookings will be taken on a first come first served basis and will close as priority bookings for families on 1st January 2026.

To receive the link to this form in order to submit your booking request please sign up to this free mailing list.

Accommodation and Prices

Each house has its own unique features. Accommodation is simple and basic with no running hot water, and compost toilets in each garden. But every house is cosy and provides a unique experience.

The boat to the island is run by an independent business, Mordaith Llyn, with this an additional cost to the week at £55 a head.

You can click through below to find details on each house, with what makes each house special and feel like the perfect home for the week.

Please note babies and infants under 2 are not included in the maximum capacity numbers for accommodation, with the exception of Carreg Bach which is not suitable for children under 12. Travel cots and high chairs can be requested during booking.

It was my parents that introduced me to Ynys Enlli when I was three years old, and even now it is still one of the most precious gifts they could have given to me
