The perfect introduction to Enlli's Dark Sky Sanctuary

Following the success of a Women’s Dark Sky Astrophotography retreat in 2025 we’re launching this year’s short retreat.

This year’s retreat will be hosted by Helen Iles, an experienced photographer and astro-photographer based in Gwynedd. Helen runs photography courses across Wales and has had her images published in The Great Outdoors magazine and many others.

This is for you if you:

  • Want to experience Ynys Enlli and have either never been before or want to return and meet new people
  • Want to experience the magic of the dark night sky in a safe and supportive environment
  • Get to know other women with similar interests
  • Get expert hints and tips on how to get the most from your photographic equipment

What you can expect from the retreat:

Staying in either Plas Bach or Llofft Plas each day will have a flexible itinerary dependent on the weather which will include:

  • Wildlife walks
  • Introduction to the Dark Sky designation
  • Night-time astrophotography sessions
  • Yoga sessions
  • Print-making sessions
  • Sessions looking at the impact of the Dark Sky on the wildlife and spirituality of Ynys Enlli
  • Home-made lunch and dinners provided by the islands Farm, with a self-serve breakfast

How much does it cost?

All prices are inclusive of accommodation, boat travel, all meals and snacks, tutoring and sessions.

Plas Bach (shared toilet and kitchen facilities, lounge, wood burner and Rayburn).

  • Shared room in Plas Bach: £500
  • Single occupancy of a room in Plas Bach: £650

Private use of Llofft Plas:

  • £800 for individual,
  • £1000 for two sharing

Llofft Plas has its own private kitchen and indoor toilet (the only one on the island!), within close proximity to Plas Bach and the wider retreat group.
