Artists and Makers Skill Share Residency
Ynys Enlli | September 2026
The Artists and Makers Skill Share Residency is a collaborative residency designed around shared learning, experimentation and creative exchange. Bringing together a small group of artists and makers from different disciplines, the residency creates space to learn from one another through making, discussion and play. Rather than focusing on individual outcomes, this residency centres on process, exchange and collective enquiry. Artists temporarily step outside their usual ways of working, and learn new approaches through collaboration.
How it works
Each day, one artist from the group will lead a session for the rest of the group This might take the form of:
- Hands-on workshop or practical demonstration
- Collaborative making activity
- Shared prompt or brief
- Discussion-led session around materials, process or research
- Informal experiment or playful intervention
Sessions can be structured or loose, collective or individual, practical or conceptual. The emphasis is on sharing something from your practice. This might be a technique you are curious about, a method you want to test with others, or a question you are currently exploring in your work.
Between sessions, artists are encouraged to reflect, respond, and make independently or together, allowing ideas to evolve organically across the week.
On Ynys Enlli, this approach is grounded within the island’s unique rhythms, landscape and sense of shared time. With limited external distractions, artists have the opportunity to fully engage with one another’s ideas while responding to the environment they are living and working in.
There are no fixed expectations around outcomes. We are intentionally keeping the structure flexible and responsive, and we welcome artists who are curious, generous and open to shaping the experience together.
